I’ve reached the halfway point in my Meditation & Mindfulness Teacher Training and it’s been profoundly eye-opening. I have been meditating consistently for 24 days, although in a lifetime, it's not even a millisecond, the impact has been vast.
Things I have learnt and noticed in this short period have changed the way I look at the world.
- Prioritising yourself for a small part of your day allows you to show up better for everyone around you
- Noticing how you feel when you are in meditation allows you to cultivate these feelings of ease whenever you need them most
- Understanding the power of the breath (I've said it before) and how to use it in moments of stress gives you the tools to self-soothe. To be compassionate to yourself and to know that you have the toolkit you need to move through anything
- Connecting with yourself opens you up to many different viewpoints, the idea that we are what we do or who we look like melts away and you start to notice all the parts of you
- Curiosity is found in the places where the mind goes, curiosity can lead to creativity
- Practice will expose many things, some good, difficult or new - each of these are part of the journey, there the work that is put in so when you do experience the depths of meditation you are ready
- After 56 days, it is said that you will have created new neuro pathways in the brain. I’m ½ way there and have found that I have already noticed that I am living lighter. I find myself looking forward in a far more optimistic way
- You can practice anywhere, all you need is a comfy position, a phone and some headphones
- Your commitment will inspire others, they’ll notice a difference in you and they’ll get curious about what you are doing to make these changes
- Getting to know yourself can be surprising and wonderful. Letting go of the judgment that you have for yourself and others allows you to see who you are at your core
