minute read

The Mekong Delta is a tapestry of rivers, rice fields, and resilience. Life here moves to the rhythm of the water, and travellers who venture south are rewarded with a glimpse into a Vietnam both ancient and alive.

Suggested Time: 2–3 days
Best For: Floating markets, slow boat journeys, village life

Here, families live on boats. Children paddle to school. Trade, worship, and storytelling all happen over water.

Things to Do in Hoi An:

  • Visit Cai Rang floating market in the early morning

  • Take a sampan boat through coconut groves

  • Try fresh tropical fruits and Mekong-style fish dishes

  • Stay overnight in a riverside homestay

What to Wear: Loose, modest clothing; a hat and sunscreen are essential.

Be Mindful Of: The climate, it can be hot and humid. Stay hydrated and plan for early activities.

Conscious Travel Note: Avoid large commercial tours. Choose smaller, community-run options and ask where your money goes. The region is one of the most impacted by climate change — tread lightly.
